Cairo

A brief stop in the desert - seventeen hours among the heat, crowds, and pyramids of Giza.

Egypt for us was a speed run initiative dictated by our layover length, a short 17 hours. Our first and only real stop was the pyramids of Giza.

The people of this place used every bit of moisture in their mouth to try and sell us something, or to convince of the invalidity of our entry tickets fixable only with USD. Those who tried often succeeded, those who didn't enjoyed the weather.

What energy we had left fending off the businessmen and battling 35 C weather while jet lagged we spent walking around the grounds that housed these magnificent structures, those that towered all of civilization for thousands of years until the Eiffel Tower was erected in 1887.

A city scorched relentlessly by sun, Cairo's architecture embodied the same hue of the soil it was built on.

Our ambitions surpassed our abilities, and by the end of the pyramids we were hanging onto our consciousness by a thread. We mustered up the courage and I took what few shots I could.

This museum was Egypt's greatest tourism infrastructure ever made. A museum the size of Atlanta International housed endless artifacts of its history. While the others went ahead I crawled, appreciating the grandioseness of the architecture itself.
